Fire Ants: Let's get fired up about these fiery little ants!

Writer: David GarciaDavid Garcia

Fire Ants
100's of fire ants

Did you know that these buzzing baddies got their name from the fiery sting they leave behind? Ouch! Their venomous sting causes a painful and itchy welt that lasts for days.

But that's not all, these social insects are team players and live in massive colonies with multiple queens and hundreds of thousands of workers. They gobble up just about anything, from plants to animals, and are known for their aggressive hunting habits. They won't think twice before attacking small animals, birds, and other insects.

These busy ants have a complex social structure with different worker ants assigned different tasks like defending the colony, foraging for food, and taking care of the younger brood. While they may be fascinating, they're also a big problem as they're considered an invasive species that can wreak havoc on crops, electrical equipment, and wildlife. It's tough to control them and often requires professional pest management to get rid of Fire Ants for good.
